LIONS PROJECT FOR CANINE COMPANIONS FOR INDEPENDENCE 2002-2003 July 20, 2002Presidents Challenge - 2002-2003Dear Lions, Welcome everyone to the New Year 2002-2003 in LPCCI, and another successful year. There are many things we need to do, and each year the LPCCI President gives a challenge to the Trustee’s and Districts to meet. This year is no different from the others. I know we have made a difference with new member clubs in the Districts from last year’s challenge. It’s my intention and challenges this year to have the Districts have a minimum of one Life member or one Fellowship in each club in every Zone by June 30, 2003. This will give us a clear picture on what clubs are active in the Zones and having the LPCCI banner plate on each club banner in each of the Zones in all of the respected Districts. It’s important that we don’t lose sight of the goals we set, but to maintain and strengthen what we have established for our efforts. For example, if you have 64 clubs in your District and 10 Zones, I would like you to increase so every Zone has a Life member or Fellowship in each of the Zones. This is how you can do it:
1) if they are already a Life member or Fellowship, still ask, but concentrate on the clubs who have none. Member clubs will have a Life or Fellowship plate on their Club Banner which is very good exposure, and get them to be active in the District. For those Member clubs who are dormant, you can wave their fees, and have them pay just for this year, only after you check with our Administrator, Elizabeth. She will review their records to see if it’s possible, then the wavier is allowed. 2) if they have been thinking about it, and no one has asked them until now, or they didn’t have any information on becoming a Life member or Fellowship. 3) if they never have been asked, and need more information, this is the perfect time to get them involved. 4) why become a Life member or Fellowship in their club? Because it’s on the approved list for a Lions project in most areas, and the club will get credit for their districts contribution. 5) we need the support and the involvement of Lions to financially support LPCCI.
The reasons to become a Life member or Fellowship in the Zones: a) your club can be part of a national involvement with Lions. b) they can display a member club plate on their banner and are proud. c) if they haven’t already been active, this is where you come in; they may be eligible for a five-year member club plate or even a ten-year member club plate you will present to their club. d) this is a very good reason if they have or can get a Life membership in their club they can display on the Member club banner—that club member will always want the banner to be displayed, because of his name, and maybe many to follow, think about it. There is one and a half many ways this can be done, and it’s our challenge for this year 2002-2003.
In my District 4-A3, I have three Zones who require a couple of Life members to be 100% Zone. So there is a goal for the Trustee and Zone Chairman. They can work together to accomplish getting 100% Zone, and we will have 100% or support from the District. The Zone Chairman can give in their respected Zone reports at their District cabinet meetings. So the other Zones who are already 100% Zone will support and want to get 100% District. This is a goal plus working with the Trustees. I feel my District can get the three other Zones to support the project, and at the same time, financially support LPCCI. It’s this team effort to get everyone thinking LPCCI, and obtain our goal. Yes people we can do this! I’m looking forward to another successful year. Let’s put this training to good use, and make a difference in our districts and communities. Thank you for your help, leadership, inspiration, comradery, and support in LPCCI. Sincerely, Joe R. Woodruff President LPCCI
